0 days before the general elections, the polls reflect an intense competition for the popular vote between former President Trump and Vice President Harris. Polls show a better performance by Harris during the debate on September 10 against the Republican candidate.
On July 21, Joe Biden gave in to the pressures that arose after his poor performance in the debate with Donald Trump and announced his decision to withdraw as the Democratic Party candidate in the November elections, endorsing his vice president, Kamala Harris.
The landscape in the states
Elections in the country are not decided by popular vote but through an indirect suffrage process: candidates must win each state to accumulate electors and obtain at least 270 votes from the electoral college, out of a total of 538.
Some territories are more decisive than others on the path to the White House. Both Harris and Trump have electoral in states considered safe for their respective parties, such as California for the Democrats or Alabama for the Republicans. For this reason, they concentrate their efforts on winning in contested states, such as Florida or Michigan.
